First pass, last light.
WIP. Hoping I don’t abandon it, as always. From a plein air study at lansdowne meadow a couple weeks ago when I was very keen on capturing the full moon + last bit of fall as many times as possible.

This piece is finished in the sense that if I spend another minute looking at it I’ll probably try to rip it with my palette knife. So instead I’m letting you all look at it. Swipe for some details.
It’s based on a plein air from eldorado canyon in Colorado and it’s 20 by 30 inches

Missing steps include brushing off the sand from when my easel fell over, and the foreground reeds that I repainted 4 times.

Dunes like these are fun to paint en plein air because the light and shadow shapes are so obvious, you can block them in right away and spend the rest of the session playing around with mark making, or repainting the aforementioned foreground reeds several times
